2007 Rivers-Marie Chardonnay B. Thieriot Vineyard

After all the talk about this wine, I decided to pop one.
With boiled lobster. YUM!

2007 Rivers-Marie Chardonnay - B. Thieriot Vineyard
Medium gold color (not over the top in any way).
Fine nose of lemon/lime with that touch of butterscotch.
Powerful lemony fruit from start to finish with a hint of spritz.
Over three hours, it flattened out a tad, but there was no sign of oxidation in this bottle.
Looks like there is serious bottle variation which will cause me to pound my remaining bottle at the first opportunity.

I’ve drank through 9 of these over the past 2+ years. Of the nine - two were completely shot and the last one drank as you described. When released these were really delicious … glad I got 7 good experiences no way these are going to be old bones. I would not hold them much longer. 2008’s are different a story and I believe their best days are still a few years off.

Paul - glad to hear your bottle only ‘flattened out a tad’ as mine fell off a cliff. As most folks are suggesting anyone that still has some pull corks now. Very glad to hear the '08s are a different story.

In my opinion, the 2008 is the best vintage RM has produced (so far) of the Thierot chard. My ‘07 experiences have mirrored Russ’

Cheers!

Paul, your comment about bottle variation must be the verdad, as there are a handful of us now saying for folks to get at this wine before it´s too late. I´d be curious to see a few more seasoned folks who have a bottle to burn to get some more notes up on this wine. There is a large audience of CT users that can gain from some additional data points.

I have the same experience with bottle variation with this wine. Glad to hear the 2008 should fare better.

these were so fantastic. i went through a bunch in the first 2 years. i saved two for science. i guess i need to check in. glad to hear the '08 is likely to hold up longer. it was the first year for chard from rm, and after all those great bottles, i’m more than willing to give them a little slack here.

OK I have a bottle on deck for Monday night. Will post impressions on Tuesday.
