2007 pisoni mailer

sorry if this has been covered before, but i didn’t see anything on search…does anyone have thoughts on this pinot?

I love it year in and year out though the price is steep. Have to grab at least a couple for my cellar. They seem to be better with a few years in bottle to me. Definitely on the bigger side of the spectrum though I think they achieve a nice balance for the style.

Bigger, fruit forward style of pinot for sure.

russ, i think what you mean is, not really your thing…

Just passing along the facts in response to your post.

I’ve been a fan of these since attending a vertical of Pisoni about a year ago. They are a fruit forward style, but I find them mroe structured and balanced compared to most of the Cali producers who are described as “big”. They really seem to hit a sweet spot with about 5yrs of bottle age, with the '01 being my favorite of the tasting and the '06 seeming quite young and closed in comparison. I picked up a few of the '07’s. Can’t comment on the Lucia Pinot’s.

thanks guys for your feedback.

If these are fruit-forward then what would you call Kosta Browne?

Love the wine with age on it. As previously mentioned the 01’s are incredible right now, as are the 03’s and 04’s. This is a fuller bodied PN, not in the bomber style of certain Laube favorites, but more of an amped up cool climate fruit + earth + brown spice with really expensive oak barrels. The wines seem to improve vintage after vintage with a) the maturation of the vines, b) the growing experience of Mark Pisoni and his team in the vineyards, and c) the growing experience and familiarity with the grapes of Jeff Pisoni and his team in the cellar. Give these a minimum of 5 years and enjoy, btw the prices have remained steady for the past 3 years unlike the majority of higher dollar cali PN producers. Big fan,
