2007 Mordoree CdR Rose at $9 - Should Still be Alive Right?

I’m thinking it will be but really haven’t any experience with his CdR Rose at 2 years out, had his Tavel at 2 years and it seemed fine. TIA.

In good shape to answer my own question - should easily last thru the end of rose season (around here October). Picked up 4 more at that price.

How did you get past me Sean? Are you a ninja?
Glad you enjoyed the wine and price. It’s a steal.

Nah, I just go when the kids are in school…around 1030A after the gym. Looks like more interesting stuff is in line for the bin-ends.

Hi Sean,

Martin Barz asked me to put his tasting note up for this wine, as he was having some technical issues. Here it is:

The Perfect Rosé

Besides Riesling, nothing is better than a chilled Rosé for these hot summer days. And you will find rarely a wine like Rosé which fits so perfectly for all kinds of cuisine like vegetarian, mediterranean, pizza, spicy foods, fish, meat, and why not for dessert. BUT if you have not the luck to live in the south in France, it is not quite easy to find a good Rosé. Most are too sweet or lack of complexity and finesse. With 2007 Dom de la Mordoreé, “La Damme Rousse” we have the best Rosé I have ever tasted.

Based on 60% Grenache, 10% Cinsault, 10% Mouvedre, 10% Syrah, 5% Bourboulenc and 5% Clairette. The vineyard is aged 40 years with terroir of clay/chalk and sandy with pebble stones.

Lovely dense perfume of strawberry. Full-bodied with flavors of raspberry, grapefruit, roses and a touch of anise in the finish. Brilliant, precise and long-lasting flavors with depth and complexity. And overall such an elegant and sublime style for a Rosé. Good aging potential for the coming years. Hats off to Christophe and Fabrice Delorme!

Here’s the article, as the extra underscores seem to mess up the html code on the link:

Oh yes, it’s easy for you in southern California to talk about hot summer days for the next 9 months (until June gloom) but tomorrow here might have trouble hitting 60F.

Also, looks like the pic is of the Tavel AOC, not the CdR rose, and the Tavel is startng to hit in the mid to upper $20’s nowadays. The CdR rose’s full price was $18+tax. I’ve heard divergent thoughts on the Mordoree rose’s, usually about being rose on steroids, but I’ve always liked them, yet have never aged them for any real legnth of time, I don’t think they’ll really improve.
