2006 Keplinger Syrah Kingpin Rows - USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley (5/30/2009)
Decanted 4 hours, enjoyed over 3. Very dark color. Dark fruits on the nose, cinnamon and allspice. Smooth, rich and viscous. Blackberries, boysenberries, smoke and a hit of white pepper. Interesting finish, long and subtle.

2006 Linne Calodo Cherry Red - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (5/30/2009)
Popped and poured, enjoyed over 3 hours. Intriguing nose of tart cherries, earth, smoke. Sweet fruit and tannins, not cloying or jammy, just pure ripe Paso Robles fruit offset by smoke, tar, and spices. Not heavy in any sense, well balanced and delicious.

Thanks for note on the Keplinger Brian, have you had the Grenache?
Joe,
I had it last October with Helen, it is really good. Spicy, bright red fruit, nice crisp acidity, rich mouthfeel without any heaviness. Her wines are really good and true to the character of the grape.
I had the 2006 Cherry Red in April and thought it was balanced and elegant, especially considering the massive flavor profile and rather high alcohol level. I really enjoyed it. I have a few more of these. Do you have any thoughts on the optimal drinking window for this wine?
Brad,
In my experience with Linne Calodo wines, the window lasts about 6-8 years from vintage. Last year I had a 2001 Rising Tides that was still quite good, and my thought was that it was nearing the end of its window. The zinfandel based blends might last slightly less IMHO.
