2006 Rhys “Alpine” Chardonnay - 14.2% alcohol
2 1/2 Years ago I thought this wine was at it’s peak and fully ready to rock.
Mature, medium golden color.
Rich nose of lemon drops, sealing wax and sandalwood with a hint of seabreeze.
Spicy, red grapefruit entry led to a firm, long, dry, pleasantly bitter pineapple finish.
This has lost it’s fatness from the last time I tasted it and has tightened up for the better.
Although not high in acid it is not too low. Drinking nicely and may continue to improve.
Kinda reminded me of an aged Mount Eden.
