2006 Relic Wines Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (12/13/2009)
OK. Popped this bottle on Tuesday night with Mike Hirby, decided against pouring it since it was ridiculously tight. Recorked the bottle and placed it back in the shipper. Fast forward to Sunday afternoon. Open the bottle and pour a glass for myself and a few friends. Five days under cork only and this was on point. Smoky, dark fruit nose. Rich, roasted meats, cracked pepper. Long smooth finish. Great structure. This wine’s got the hops to age for a considerable period of time.
