2006 JC Cellars/Villard Viognier & 2007 Eno Pinot Noir

2006 JC Cellars/Francois Villard, Vin De Pays Des Collines Rhodaniennes Viognier (50% Condrieu, 50% Seysseul)
This is starting to really take off. Last summer it was still showing a little too much oak but time has benefited this wine. Showing some honeysuckle, lots of apricot, and some minerals. There are hints of anise and lemon in there as well. It’s got some stuffing but isn’t heavy at all and retains just a bit of an oily texture. The only knock is that the finish is just a tad on the short side but still this is terrific.

2007 ENO Wines, Pinot Noir, Fairview Ranch Vineyard, Santa Lucia Highlands
At first we had the JC Cellars/Villard accompanying our pork chops with grapes and crispy prosciutto b/c it was opened while cooking. Quickly apparent we needed something else…a Pinot to go with the pork.

Traci and I really loved the Pinot. Right off the bat it had a great nose of toasted bread, blackberries, and baking spices. On the palate, silky texture, blackberry and dark cherries, more baking spices with a medium long finish. Just superb last night. We enjoyed it some much Traci immediately sent Sasha a note to say how yummy it was!!!

Disclaimer: Sasha and Kiara are good friends of ours and I have helped Sasha bottle/crush.

Thanks for the notes Tony. I chastised the guy at the JC Cellars table for not pouring any of their whites at Family Winemakers as I think that is the strength of their lineup. He wasn’t because their distributors in SoCal are evidently not carrying the whites now.
