KL has this for $9. Any try it?
Just got a bottle - popped and poured. Not a bad nose - typical napa cab if not a bit light. Taste is light on the fruit though. Moderately tannic. Not sure how long this would last with that light fruit. I’ll let it air out a bit and check in again in a bit.
Thanks, Eugene - let us know
Tasted it throughout the night and again this morning. The fruit opened up a bit over the next couple hours, but I wouldn’t say it’s your typical dark fruit flavors you’d expect from a napa cab. Still had the lighter red fruits with leather and tobacco notes and moderate tannins. Moderate finish. By the morning most of the fruit was gone, so I don’t see this balancing out with cellaring.
It’s not bad for a $10 cab, but far from a $30 cab. The upside is that it doesn’t have your typical over the top cab taste from cheap cabs, but it still wasn’t balanced in my opinion. When you talk $30 range and have decent cabs like Sequoia, Oakville, etc. I think this would fall far short.
I bought 6, and I’m probably going to go and return the other 5. Life is too short to be drinking bad cab - I’d rather spend another $5-10 and get a better cab. I would say even your basic Mondavi Napa Cab which you can find for under $20 would be preferable at 2x the price.
