2006 Foillard Morgon Cote de Py & 2007 Drouhin Pommard

2006 Foillard Morgon Cote de Py

This benefits immensely from aeration, was a little tight to start but then exploded with spices, tangy and bright red fruits and even a little kick of pepper. Seemed to be in a great place right now and is super fresh. Complete wine and wish I had more than 2 left.

2007 Drouhin Pommard

Another Pommard that drank well this weekend, though this was displaying all sweet primary fruit and no complexity. It was reminscent of a Sonoma Coast pinot, maybe even an RRV - though it didnt have an offending cola characteristic. Fun to drink though since it doesnt take itself too seriously, it’s pretty well-rounded from first sniff to last gulp. Seemed very modern - wouldn’t have called this from Burgundy blind.

Rico likes Cru bojo! News at 11!

I thought the beaujolais was just fantastic! Tons of fruit, spice and a touch of underbrush. I agree with Peter on the Drouhin, very primary and modern in style. At $35 you can probably find similar value out of CA. Who know what kind of complexities it will pick up down the road but easy drinking and I enjoyed it.

Yeah, that '06 Morgon is the real deal. Was $25 locally and I should have loaded up with more than 2 bottles.

Wish it was that cheap here, I got it for upper 20s after a case discount - around low 30s otherwise.

Either way, beautiful wine.
