2005 Weingut Spreitzer, Oestricher Lenchen Kabinett- Rheingau

Intense nose of hydraulic oil, kerosene, honey, apple and a little apricot. The palate is fairly thick and viscous for a kabinett, but finishes dry, with medium acidity and excellent focus to the mid palate. The honey, pear, and petrol notes continue long through the finish. Kimberly was a bit turned off by this at first, but we’re both really enjoying it after some air and a nice meal.

Thanks John. I really liked this '05 kabinett from the vineyard right next door in Oestrich.

Straw colored. Not a ton on the nose, a bit of burnt rubber. Tingly acidity on the attack, transitioning to a fatter midpalate of pear juice and finally a long, spicy finish. Really three distinct phases to this, but they flow together nicely. Delicious. (91 pts.)

Nice notes.

Really like Spreitzers Kabinetts. VERY nice QPR, too!

Their “303” GK Spatlese is just simply amazing stuff, year in, year out, too.
