2005 Pavelot Savigny les Beaune

I have a number of 2005s from Pavelot (both village SlB and Dominodes). Thought I would check on how the village wine was doing. Well, it is doing quite well. Still way too young, but there is a lot to this wine. We opened it Friday night and it really had a lot of fruit. Traditional classic wine. Still pretty undeveloped, but not as painfully harsh at this point to drink as are some 2005s. Saved some from the bottle and had it yesterday. Really good wine for a $20 burg. Still not evolved at all, but more open. More people should be buying wines like this.

Love this wine and the 1999 got me hooked on this little Savigny that has so much character. Thanks for checking in on the 2005 as I have a stash for future consumption. I doubt I will open any of my 2005’s any time soon as I believe the wines will age better than any vintage in the past ten years…

Howard, had a similar experience recently with 2005 Domain du Prieure~Savigny les Beaune~1er Les Lavieres. Terrific little bottle, still a way from peak drinking but showing enourmous potential. Really like the direction the 2005s are headed.

Shhh. Pay no attention to the wines from Savigny. It would be far better if you spent all of your money on wines from Vosne and Gevrey. (Admin.–can this thread be deleted?).

Howard,

Thanks for the note; I have a handful of the Dominodes, which I have no intention of disturbing just yet, so this is helpful. BH says at least three more years. What say you?

Cheers,
Andrew

I am sorry. Forget what I said above. There are no good Burgundies anymore for less than $200.

Dan has gotten me very interested in Pavelot wines. The ones I have had so far have been excellent.

Zachy’s had the 10s on sale at fair pre-arrival pricing recently, in various formats, and I bit on a few. Now the prices are back up in the regular Zachy’s insane-o-sphere.

Yes, SlB is really a backwater, nothing in common with the Cote de Nuit. Keep on moving, nothing to see.
