2005 Alesia Falstaff Pinot

Unfortunately had an off bottle of this last night. My wife wondered if the mustiness meant that it was corked, but it was definitely not corked. Muddy, plummy flavors but not oxidized. The musty stink improved a little when I added a copper penny to the glass, but not completely and the wine never seemed “fresh”. Not sure if this was a reduction/mercaptans issue as I am not that experienced with them, but it did not get better over time. Not sure of the diagnosis.

I had 2 bottles of this, last one a year ago. I don’t keep tasting notes but I remember both were excellent. Perhaps yours was heat damaged??

Had one Sunday. Had a bit of mustiness out of the bottle but blew off in 10 minutes in the glass.

Was a nice wine.

Possible, but it was shipped from the winery and went into my temp controlled cellar.

Robert,
I am not aware of any reduction issues with this wine but we are happy to provide a replacement and will be in touch.

My 05 Alesia’s are long gone but I thought this one was excellent.

Yes, and the last bottle I had a couple of months ago was excellent as well, so I think this was just a quirk.
