It’s been a busy week at the store and of course with all of the holiday parties. i have been fortunate to drink a wide array of excellent wines in the past week. Tonight I decided to just unwind and mentally prepare for the havok that tomorrow will bring upon me!
2004 Terrebrune Bandol - Still a deep color with earthy, leathery, plum scents. hint of violets too. Pretty big on the palate with juicy red and black fruits. When it was first opened it had a touch of that tingly feeling on the front of my tongue. now that it has been open for a half hour or so the wine is starting to sparkle. a shame cause I need a nice drink tonight and this wine has a lot of great things underneath this flaw!
Gordon, if you run a search on this website you will find a TN i posted a few months back. I gave it “94” … I went out and bought some more. Others also like it, albeit a little less than I. This wine is simply right in my wheelhouse.
I’ll need to pop another bottle soon. i bought the last case my distributor was closing out for $6 a bottle!
I sold half to a friend and took this bottle home to check in on it.
Brian, your CT note is what got me all excited about the price. Underneath the flaw it seemed like a very nice wine. So I have hope for my other bottles.
I got my first taste of Terrebrune Bandol just last April, at a Kermit Lynch trade tasting here in the Detroit area. Being a fan of Kermit’s other Bandols, Tempier and Gros Nore, I was interested to see what these were all about and having owner/winemaker Reynald Delille on hand made the experience an even more pleasurable one. We liked everything we tasted with him, red, white and pink.
Too bad about the bad bottle; let us know if you have better luck w/the next one you open.
