2004 Rivers Marie Cab

Just popped after a dismal 1998 Chateau Beausejour and this wine rocks. Lots of fruit but still maintains an elegance that very few modern Napa Cabs do. I’ll report back in a few hours after we down some Ribeyes.

I have a hazy/cloudy recollection of this wine from Berserkerfest. It may have been my red of the evening – good stuff indeed.

I have two of these that I have managed to keep my hands off. Would love to hear if they are really ready to pop or if you think they could use more time.

I may end up opening one to gauge my purchases on the upcoming offer.

Bordeaux disappoint? Come on…

The wine did continue to develop but it was still quite large-scaled. It’s got great stuffing but I think 3-4 years will do this wine some good. This is potentially a 94-95 point wine.

The 2007, I think, is being released this coming week, if I remember what Thomas told me when we visited in June. I plan to get a few bottles so that I can adjust my dismal cab to syrah ratio in my cellar. deadhorse

Never mind that, I didn’t think he owned any bdx.

I think FMIII has this down – Sept. 1 is my recollection.

I remember having having the 04 upon release and really dug it . . . but just note that I do not drink much Napa Cab so I may not be the best person to ‘correlate’ with (-:

Cheers!

I think (hope) the 06 is shut down right now. I opened one immediately upon release and really enjoyed it - great fruit, balanced, etc. I tried another a few months later, not nearly as enjoyable. I think Thomas is one of the most skilled winemakers in the game, so I’m pretty positive these will come out the other side pretty well. But only time will tell.
