2004 Revana Cabernet St.Helena

Another classic from Heidi Barrett and Dr. Revana. Two hour decant served with roasted rack of lamb. Intoxicating nose of crushed black fruit, graphite, violets. Palate of Black fruits, cream, bakers chocolate and a perfect balance of tannins and well intergrated oak. Finish lasts for well over a minute, so good. Ironically our allocation arrived earlier in the day of three bottles of the 06. If you have not tasted Revana’s Cabs do yourself a favor, as good as any of Heidi’s other projects, Traditional blend of Cab,Merlot, Cab Franc, and a little petit verdot.

Thanks for the notes, Bud. We visited the winery a few years ago and still have a bottle of the 02 cab left that I have had my hands on a couple times but for whatever reason, haven’t pulled. Think I will open it this weekend.

Sherri, we popped an 02 in August and it was excellent. I find Heidi’s wines great when very young and then after four years of bottle age, when they develope into even more mature complex world class Cab’s. I’m thinking of sacrificing one of the baby 06’s this weekend for R&D and the tucking them into the cellr for aging. Look forward to your take on the 02.

Cheers…
