2004 Larkmead Cab

Great. Black fruit - Red Fruit. Some well integrated tannin.

That is all.

Gee tanks.

Drinking the '06 right now, fantastic Cabernet! Really deep and dark fruit.

Bill,

It was such a simple pleasure to drink the wine that I thought a simple note would do. [basic-smile.gif]

Now that I have a little more time, I can give more detail. The wine was quintessential Napa cab. Big fruit, tending toward the darker flavors. Initally a chocolate covered cherry followed by ripe sweet blackberry. It was very lush on the palate and then tapered off slowly to the finish. As big as the fruit was, it was held in balance by the right amount of toast and just enough acidity to keep it from approaching the cloying stage.

All in all, a fabulous wine. When I drink things like this, I wonder what it is I am looking for when I buy anything more expensive, as this is such a pleasure to drink.

Glad to hear the 2006 is also good. I have only one lonely bottle of that in the cellar as I was trying to limit my buying at the point that I bought it.

Cool. Costco just got a few cases of the '04 and has them marked right at $40 a bottle.

Buy.

Don’t worry. Heading there after work today.

That is a screaming good deal. I was at Costco yesterday and ours didn’t have anything like that. But they were pushing some wines with a coupon book they handed out when I walked in. I picked up a few things that are easy to pull from the cellar. The best deal was 2005 Franciscan Magnificat for $28 a bottle.
