2004 Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes

Took this from someone’s cellar who seems to only buy off vintage wines (04 burgundy, 07 bordeaux, etc). I was worried initially because of all the notes about GM and unripeness surrounding the 04 vintage.

I was not getting any of the problems with 04 burgundy. It is still very fruit dominated both on the nose and palate. Balanced in acidity, sweetness and smooth tannins. Very surprised at how young the wine felt. The wine did seem to die down a bit after 3 hours and felt split. Definitely a good wine by any means but I feel like I still need more experience to appreciate red burgundies especially older ones.

Looks a little Hazy. Next time let an older bottle like this settle a few days before opening! :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Is this the period that Dujac were ging through their ‘natural’ phase ? :joy:

I thought the wine looked fine, but again not much experience with older wines. It didnt look hazy to me at least compare to the other wines.

Very green and hoppy.

Have folks checked in on 2004 recently. Has the greenness generally subsided in folks’ recent experiences?

I didnt get any from this bottle.

And wrong glass for a Burgundy!

the plastic wrap on the label saved the vintage for dujac!

People are making fun of the glass (beer?) on the left of the bottle, Richard

:pwn: went over my head lol.

I had the Bouchard Clos de Beze a few months ago - totally green, like a Loire Cab Franc.
