Had this with Rack O’ Lamb (YUM)
2003 Gevrey Chambertin “Combottes” Cuvee Unique (Raphet)
Continuing my 2003 exploration.
Deep crimson with amber edge.
Rich nose of ripe plums, spice and smoked beef.
Minerally, blackcherry/blackberry fruit with a dry cherry pit finish.
As time went by, the wine sweetened up on me. (If this just had a bit more acid! )

These 2003s could have been special wines if not for the heat wave.
They are sooo close with their rich fruit, but a lack of acid and structure makes most of them a bit cloying.
