2003 Benard Morey Chassagne Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er

What a surprise and a delight. You prepare yourself to be disappointed with an aged white Burg knowing that there is a high probability of it being undrinkable. And with one that is 17 years old from a hot vintage, well it can seem like a fait accompli. This was beautifull. Light golden in color, it showed a little smoke in the beginning but rapidly dissipated. The tertiary notes of honey, nuttiness, and light caramel were all present, but in perfect balance and harmony. Not once did Sherry pop into my mind. It was almost enough to make one want to age Burgundy Blanc again!

Nice. Great producer now split up amongst the kids.
