Opened blind.
I went with “lighter style,” not a lot of depth, but fruit was intact, and I went with mid-90’s for the vintage.
I was expecting/wanting more opulent.
But,then we started dinner, and the claret style of the wine made much more sense.
This is a food wine.
Cornbred/beef upside down casserole worked nicely. Even the slight tomato to the dish worked with the wine. Still a slightly short finish. I felt I could have just had a European wine with dinner - which I mean as a compliment.
No ABV listed, but I guess below 13%.
Reminded me of how the Mondavi cabs used to be.
Thumbs up with food, but not a “taste alone” wine.
