2002 R. López de Heredia Rioja Viña Bosconia - Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja (10/27/2011)
Intriguing wine. Aromas are barbaresco like. Light and compelling. On the palate it continues with it’s light feel. Dried cherries mixed with earth. Finishes with herbs and a bit of oak and sherry. Shows some age but still needs some years. It is always a good thing when a wine leaves you wanting another glass. (92 pts.) -
1993 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley (7/3/2011)
No real note on this one. An anniversary year wine, so my attention was on my girl. But I will say, Wow! So good. The leather and cherry mixed with fairly high tannins made this wine a joy. I do wonder how the fruit will hold up to the tannin. This was purchased back when it was easy to get the futures price. Probably paid $40 or something.
Cheers,
Jason
