2001 Clape Cornas

2001 Clape Cornas

Decanted for one hour at the restaurant. Served with the main course, herb crusted rack of lamb with curry rissoto. The aromatics were just jumping out of the glass. Olives, flowers, bacon and dark red fruit. Med+ body, elegant dark red fruit with a savory mid palate. Smooth but noticeable tannins and balancing acidity. Just an elegant wine that shows its power but keeps it in check. Showing some nice secondary characteristics. I’m sure it can hold together for the long haul but it was just perfect with dinner last night. Alas it was my last bottle, but I’m not at all sorry I opened it now.
Cheers!
