2000 Haut-Bergey Graves

First let me say that this wine is not even close to being ready to drink so these notes are based on the wine I drank.

Decanted for an hour before consumption. The nose is a little off with some serious funk that took a lot of time to blow off. After this, the nose was extremely muted but I got a little coffee and espresso notes along with currant and dark fruits. This wine was very full-bodied which is interesting because it registered at 12.5% alc. I guess it just goes to show that you can have a powerhouse wine without high alcohol. Big, dark fruits on the palate with a little bit of graphite which is to be expected. I would not open another of these for at least 5 years, but it has the makings of a great wine.

Thanks for the TN.
I have a couple magnums, and was under the impression this was a drink sooner rather than later wine.
Guess I’ll hold off for a while yet.
