This wine is singing.
Terrific red fruit core.
Spicy and very long.
Silky tannin now.
Incredible.

Tasted next to Aldo Conterno Cicala, Schiavenza Riserva and Giacosa Rocche.
All from 1999.

And how were the others?

Aldo Conterno - spicy and dark fruited. Savory.
Schiavenza - a baby. Tannic and red fruited. Like a very young barolo in many ways.
Giacosa Rocche - opened some over the dinner. Beautiful fruit that is darker in many ways but this one is still dominated by structure to me.

All were slow oxed 6 hours.

Thanks for the note. I bought a case of this on release from Carolina Wine Co for $33 each. I have one left and am keeping it for purely nostalgic reasons. Sounds like it is ready to go…
