1994 Vintage?

Has your son developed a taste for wine? I’m praying my kids eventually do … doesn’t even need to be both of 'em, I’d take happily take one if that’s all I can get.

For my part, with '94, I found it to be a pretty reliable vintage for bottom-feeding backfilling. For what I paid for them, I’ve been happy with bottles of Stag’s Leap Merlot, Spottswoode Cab., Oakville Ranch Cab., Clos Pegase Cab. and Fisher Cab… To be clear, I bet most of these are well over the hill at this point, unless they’ve been stored exceedingly well.
I’ve also enjoyed bottles of Pontet Canet and Troplong Mondot, and – like you, Mark – a port or two.

Sadly not. He enjoys a glass or two, and I have put aside a few cases of good stuff for him, which will probably last him a lifetime.

Hmmmph. Bummer. Well, he still has time to come around, and here’s hoping he does!

The only California wine I have left from the vintage is a bottle of 1994 Araujo Eisele Cabernet Sauvignon, purchased on release.

94 is my birth year wine. Be glad im not your son, i might have taken it all

Thank you, @Sarah_S

@timmy_roos - agreed, we had a bunch (13?) of folks around. Was a really splendid evening.

If you are offering, position is taken. I like what I have got.

This is the answer. 1994 Dominus. A spectacular bottle of wine. I would rather have this than Monte Bellow, Insignia, etc. Abreu, Harlan, Dominus, Togni, Caymus SS, Dalla Valle, Pride all good. Spottswoode a little soft, Montelena Estate will be good too. Lots of winners in Napa, and well conditioned bottles will be absolutely slamming at full maturity.
