Dark crimson color. Powerful, gorgeous, subtle aromas start with very ripe black raspberries and include red currants, pine forest, ground coriander and a tiny hint of eucalyptus. The palate is moderately rich, with an amazing texture that mixes velvet and the sheerest lace. The flavors still favor black raspberries with everything else in the aromas and also and an extremely subtle melange of other flavors. I think I pick up some black pepper, little touches of both earth and minerals, a hint of basil. The finish is lovely and fairly long, but not in the context of initial impression and mid-palate. This keeps it from perfection. For lovers of Bordeaux, California Cabernet simply cannot get much better. Rated 99.0. Drink now. Will certainly hold for a few years (I have two bottles left), but I can’t imagine it getting any better.

Sounds awesome, thanks for sharing Dan.
Simply wonderful thanks for sharing. Some of those old reserve bottlings can be magical, sad they are no longer around. I only buy a few CA cab producers each year and mount Eden is one of em, love their style.
Dan (or anyone), have you have the 1993 Old Vine Reserve recently? I have an opportunity to pick up some, but wasn’t sure if I should pull the trigger. (thanks to Rhys, Ceritas allocations and all in for large formats from work) Any input would be great. Thanks!
Is that a misprint?
You’ve never before scored a wine higher than 92.4721638905.
The 99 doesn’t surprise me. The fact that there were not at least five decimals does.
I enjoyed the 90 and 95 Old Vine Reserves back in June - both were terrific.
