1988 Domaine Gros Frere et Soeur, Clos Vougeot - "Musigni"

Nice little Boxing day lunch of rack of lamb (meat pops), roasted root veggies and shaved brussels sprouts.

I opened this about an hour before serving and it reminded me, again, of why I love Pinot so much. It had verve. Beautiful earthy nose of sois bois, mushrooms, brambles and dried cherries. Initially the attack was thin, but fleshed out beautifully. It came up into the gumline from the inside out and was pure liquid silk. The acidity hung in quite well and married into the rendered fat fantastically. Wonderful.

Plus, a great set up for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel two o’clock matinee.

Nice. With my limited experience, the Gros Frere … wines age beautifully.

Although we did some boxing today, we didn’t eat or drink as well as you.

Cheers and hope to see you in Feb.

Jason
