Some comments from a couple cabs I had over the holiday weekend!
1987 Montelena - Served Blind, but I nailed it from the first sip! Haven’t had an 87 in about 10 years, and this wine keeps getter better! At age 27, there’s still enough fruit and structure to keep this bad boy on the upslope and there’s no reason this wine can go another 10 plus years. Great wine!
2003 Pride Reserve Cab- One of the dinner guests brought this bottle to make sure my wife had something to enjoy while the rest of us sampled some old world stuff. To be honest, I was expecting this to be DOA showing only wood with dried out fruit. My experience with some Pride cabs was that they were for the most part early drinkers, BUT I was presently surprised in that wine showed really well with most things in a good balance. I think most of the people who tried had a similar opinion, except my wife, who said, I know it would be great!!!
Cheers
