Being a 69er myself, I’m always on the lookout for these, especially when it’s from producers with great history. These tend to just be interesting pops, and nothing special…but every now and then you hit a gold mine.
Picked up this 1969 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Beringer/Los Hermanos Vineyard Napa Valley off the WB. Any info on this would be much appreciated. Thanks
I have not had any examples from Beringer from this era, so I am afraid I cannot be of much help, but would be very curious to hear how the wine is when you get around to popping it. I did have the Mondavi regular bottling of cabernet from 1969 just before I left for Burgundy at the start of November, and it was drinking really beautifully and with plenty of life still in it. So I think that you have pretty good potential with the '69 Beringer as well.
Hummm, curious how it is drinking as well. At $65, sounds like a fun gamble. FWIW, opened a 1986 Beringer Private Reserve today. A few tastes later, down the drain it went, past maturity and simply not enjoyable. Not familar with the vineyard, but hope it shows well for you . . .
