Looking for 1-3 bottles of 1966 something that could age for parents’ anniversary. Open to buying outright or barter for something newer. DM me if you have anything. Thanks!
Prices are high but you can try to negotiate:
Thanks! I’m hoping for something that might have a more likely shot at being halfway decent. I bid on some 1966 Latour that was in the latest HDH auction but not enough.
The Martini wines are build to survive a bucket blast from that period. I haven’t had 66, but 61/63/68 have been phenomenal across multiple bottles.
But YMMV
$320 for the '66
There are a bunch '66 Bdx and Vintage Port available if you have WineSearcherPro, and if you don’t turn up something here.
Happy Wine Hunting!
I enjoyed the 1966 Beycheville a couple years ago in 750ml.
Here is a magnum: Beychevelle – OWC
750ml at wine Consignors (who has usually good inventory from what I’ve bought in past): 1966 Château Beychevelle, St. Julien – Wine Consigners Inc.
Thanks! Sent note to ask for photos.
Another bump up for '66 ports. I remember a big tasting maybe 15 years ago and the '66s won over the '63s and '77s of several houses. If well stored, a great “sleeper”. Montrose should be great.
‘66 Bordeaux are spotty. Depends on whether they were harvested before or after the rains. I had a ‘66 Dow port last week that was advanced, But delicious. Particularly on day two
