15' guiberteau Saumur Rouge

Picked this up to see where the youngsters are at…

Dark garnet to ruby at rim. The nose is clean with underbrush, white pepper, dark fruits with great lift. The palate is medium acid, darker fruits that are obviously primary, but this still has a little tobacco, bell pepper and funk to bring it to Loire.

This isn’t overly complex at this point but if this is an indication of the vintage these wines are going to be a little broader shouldered with deep fruit and larger scaled.

Been enjoying this over the past two nights. A little ash, a lot of green pepper. I thought the fruit was really big on the nose, but not as much on the palate. Enjoyed it a lot.

Didn’t add a follow up note.

I coravin’d this a month ago and finished the rest of the bottle last week. Filled out with fruit and added depth and complexity. Really liked it and excited to see where it goes in 4-5 years.
