Tim Spear of Clos Mimi and I were discussing wine and I mentioned to him that I had a 3L bottle of 2004 Kracher #6 that I didn’t know when I was going to be able to open since I figured I would need at least 50 people to share it with.
We decided that it would be most appropriate to honor Alois on December 5, 2009 (the 2nd anniversary of his passing on December 5, 2007) and raise a toast to him. Tim has gratiously agreed to host the event at:
Clos Mimi Winery, 2330 Westgate Rd., Santa Maria, CA 93455.
Date: Saturday, December 5, 2009
Time TBD - maybe a 5:00 pm start?
As a former Santa Maria resident (from age 6 through high school graduation), I am envisioning a traditional Santa Maria Style BBQ with Tri-Tip, Chicken, Pacquito Beans, Salsa, Salad and Garlic Bread (haven’t firmed this up yet).
Here’s the idea:
Each party of four will bring a 3L bottle (or 2 magnums or 4 750’s) of good wine. We will limit this to the first 52 people (13 parties of four). That way, everyone will get approximately a 2 oz. pour of each of 13 different wines.
So, whom amongst the Central Coast winemakers and boardies would like to join us? Also, who amongst the SoCal, NoCal and Central Valley folks would like to attend - even make it a nice weekend in Santa Maria?
