It’s back. missed it by 2 days last year and have since recv’d a British Airways card so I am out of this one. Starts tomorrow. 100,000 will get you from USA to europe or asia in biz class or twice in economy. Keep in mind the high fees associated with awards on BA. Can also use these on AA domestically. Fees substantially lower.
I got in on this last year. $75 for 100,000 miles is a no brainer. Even if all you do is ‘cash’ in for 4 American Airlines domestic coach seats, your cost is $75 divided by 4. That’s less than $19 a ticket.
You can use these miles on any One World airline. System Error | oneworld I know someone that’s flying in first on Cathay Pacific to Saxonfest. I cancelled my card just before the annual renewal. And in case you asking what happened to my miles after the cancellation, the answer is they’re secure in my BA account. No miles are taken away. I only mention this because someone may ask.
FTG is my website of choice for up to the minute offers. The fee that Chase is charging is $95 annually. That works out to less than $24 per ticket, times 4 if you’re flying AA domestically on a 25,000 mile award.
You could also fly Business First between NY and LA for 50,000 miles per ticket.
36 months. Or longer as long as you keep the account active.
Clause 12.3 of the Executive Club Terms and Conditions states that ‘If a Member has not earned or redeemed Mileage for 36 consecutive months, all Mileage that has accrued to that date will expire.’
To keep your current mileage balance you need to continue to earn or redeem BA Miles, as each mileage transaction extends the life of your
BA Miles for a further 36 months. Membership accounts will be activated by any form of mileage activity including: taking a flight on any
British Airways or oneworld partner airline (excluding American Airlines direct services between Europe and the Americas); by redeeming miles on British Airways (including Part Cash Part Miles or Miles for Upgrade redemptions) or a oneworld partner airline; by earning BA Miles with any of our Executive Club partners eg credit card, financial services, car rental or hotel partners.
Check the link a little later this afternoon on the FTG website. That’s when it will be up. Clicking on his link nets him some dough. Clicking on the Chase/BA link above saves them the referral link. We wouldn’t want them to make any additional money would we?
Bruce, if you minored in miles and points on http://www.flyertalk.com, you could too. But not to worry, there are a few of us here to point you in the right direction.
Thanks Dan. Jordan has already contributed mightily to my travels.
I spent a ton of time on flyertalk learning a few things for two upcoming trips. It is a great source. But I don’t think a minor is sufficient. That is clearly a major curriculum.
Does anyone know how having multiple credit cards even if the balance is 0$ effects ones credit score? I thought that too much available credit lowers your score. Also, does canceling cards hurt your score?
There’s no such thing as “Wife is getting a dog”. The wife may be picking it out. But it will be equally, if not more, your dog from the day it walk in the door.
I’d be more than happy to trade dog sitting for SQN, but you are not exactly around the corner from me.
I’m guessing that Freemott knows these answers.
I think too much credit is less of a problem problem than having a large percentage of your credit limits used up with balances. So cancelling cards lowers your credit limits, meaning any outstanding balances rise as a percentage, thus lowering your score.
