1 btl 1974 Mayacamas CS proceeds to assist Helene recovery

I live in SWVA near NC and have lived in WNC.

We are out of power in VA but our generator is running, so we are fine.

My workplace donated some supplies on Saturday; evidently an extra Starlink unit we sent is being used by the Boone police department (evidently they didn’t have any comms).

Someone my wife used to work with 20 years ago evacuated and came back to have her house swept away.

At this point I’m not sure precisely what I will do with the funds from selling this bottle but I do know that I would like to help in the effort and the funds from this will go 100% for helping people in WNC.

This is from a multibottle lot I bought at auction some 7 years ago, from Acker I believe (I know).

I will run the this as an auction ending Friday night at midnight Eastern and I will ship next Monday.

To the eventual winner I am glad to show evidence of funds donated.

The fill is goid, bn I believe. Haven’t looked at it lately.

Thanks.

well done indeed. $400.

$500

Thanks everyone.

Bump for one more day.

May pull bottle out and photo.

Right now I’m thinking to donate to individual/s GoFundMe, western NC affected.

Very kind of you. Such a sad situation. Would love to see that area fully recovery quickly.

I literally just moved from Asheville two months ago, so this has been a brutal week. World Central Kitchen is working with local restaurants there to get food served. I already have donated a lot to them, but will do $750 more in your name. I know that’s not quite the offer you made but I have a charitable trust I set up that I would like to use.

That’s wonderful; thanks.

I took off the past two days to do some recovery effort in a part of Va. not hit as hard as WNC.

I am so grateful for all that we have in life.

$800

My original wine mentor lives in Asheville. He seems to be ok, but described the chaos.

Hello all. This is closed now.

I will be providing the bottle to Mr. Mark G.

Alan Kaplan also generously donated. Given that this is Wine Berserkers, I decided to send the monies he shared to “Wine to Water” a group is actively helping in the W NC recovery.

Thanks all.

I’m confused. You posted that the auction ended at Friday on Midnight. I made my offer, you responded that it was wonderful.

Saturday I donated in your name, sent you a pic in a private message which you didn’t reply to and you are sending the bottle to Mark (who is a great human, so no ill will there) who made the offer of $50 more well after closing.

Uh. Like, I’m thrilled to have sent WCK another 750. But if you didn’t like my terms, why say it’s wonderful?

Again, at the end of the day, I donated money to a great charity. So all gravy. But I don’t think this played out the way it should have.

I thought it ended Friday night as well. The only reason I was following is because 1974 is my birth year. Honestly I don’t have the finances to bid on it but was intrigued for sure. Hope it all gets worked out to satisfaction.

Sorry for the confusion everyone.

Jeff, when you said that you were donating to World Central Kitchen and that was not the offer I was after I thought that meant you were doing that over and above and beyond this offer and just an additional donation.

I realize now I should’ve reached out to you to clarify my understanding was your understanding.

The good news is when I bought the lot I bought several bottles so I have multiple bottles. I am glad to send one to you, Jeff as well.

Or I am glad to pay you back the donation you sent to WCK.

What’s more, I did tell Mark that his bid was after the closing date, and that really I needed to honor the highest bid before that. However, I thought the high bid was Alan, because Jeff, like I said, I thought you were donating without wanting be in the play for the bottle, if that makes sense.

That would be the reason why I even posted any donation from Alan.

I’ve then communicated with Mark and Alan individually. I did that that time offered to send them both a bottle as well.

Bottom line, Jeff let me send you a bottle next week. I’m back in North Carolina having spent some time in Virginia this weekend.

Feel free to reach out to me individually for shipping details.

And just to clarify one more time, the only reason I decided to go with Mark was because I thought Jeff’s offer was parallel, but not connected to this offer, and that I needed to honor Alan as the high bidder but then when communicating individually with Alan he was willing to let Mark have the higher price. That’s really only reason I let the original terms of the offer vary.
