I had these over the weekend:
2007 Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon – Costco has been selling these for around $28. Great QPR! Not overextracted or overly sweet in the least, this is a nice, supple, medium-bodied wine with some currant, cedar and cherry flavors, and just a touch of spicy oak on the finish. Some might find this a bit too oaky for their tastes, but I found a lot less oak with this bottling than on the 2007 Mondavi Napa. I will be buying more.
1992 Fonseca Vintage Port – From .375, bought on release, and the first time I have tried this vintage from Fonseca. Decanted for five hours. Beautiful ruby color from the center of the glass to the rim. Initial aromas of plums, raisins and red cherry. Tremendous mouthfeel, velvety smooth on the palate with more flavors of raisins and figs. The only downside of this bottle was that it was from a .375 and we had no willpower to save any to try on Day 2. That is what the 750’s are for! A tremendous VP!
