22 Year-Old Sauternes Under Screwcap

#1 Post by Jeremy Holmes » February 14th, 2020, 6:21 pm

  • 1998 Château d'Arche Sauternes - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (2/14/2020)
From 250ml, sealed with screwcap. In remarkable condition. Very pure. Loads of marmalade, lanolin, honey and apricot. It has good volume and flesh and is perfectly sweet without any cloying. The finish is so clean, bright and energetic, Bravo screwcap!

I would have pegged it for an aged Sauternes, somewhere around that era, but one sealed with the most wonderful cork. All aromas and flavours were in high-definition.

Thanks for posting Jeremy. I don't think that I have ever drunk wine that came out of a 25cl bottle!

Funny coincidence
An even older bottle under screwcap. Probably 60 years old
