Washington D.C. store seems to be getting better wines. Went in today and got
2008 Cristal $229
2016 Ducru Beaucaillou $199
2016 Leoville Poyferre $103
2016 Lynsolence $40
2016 du Tertre $45
2016 Les Ormes de Pez $34
2017 Carmes de Rieussec 375ml $12
2018 Boeckel Midelberg Gewurztraminer $12
2016 Ruffino Modus $20

They had a lot of other Bordeaux. Not much Burg. I talked to buyer and he is trying to improve selection there.

Was at the Seattle 4th Ave. S. store #1 today. They had the Ste. Michelle 2015 Cold Creek Cab for $15.99. I have always enjoyed the Cold Creek Cabs from Ste Michelle and one of the few reds from them I feel wasn't completely over oaked. I picked up a case.

Tried the 2015 Kirkland Barolo (19.99$) over the weekend. When I initially opened this, it was a spicy chaos of fruit, but after 30 minutes, this opened up nicely. Dark fruit, cherry, chocolate with hints of earth, which got even better for the next few hours. This is not bad for 19.99$. Will probably grab a couple more the next time I go to Costco if they are still available, especially in light of the stock market today.

2015 Chateau Labadie $12.99 in Tampa, FL.

Very nice Cru Bourgeois. I think the MSRP on this is $24 and, honestly, it would be a good bottle of wine at that price. At $13 it's a steal. A little bit heavy on the new oak, but it's high quality, so no complaints. I would call this a modern style Bdx blend. Predominantly Merlot. Very clean wine. Bought 1 bottle to try it out, will be going back for more. Drink or hold, but definitely buy some.

I found a source for you.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/family-says- ... 49777.html

An Australian woman took the stockpiling to new heights by accident — purchasing a 12-year supply of the necessity and turning herself into a self-proclaimed toilet paper queen in the process.

She mistakenly ordered 48 boxes of the company’s toilet paper, which comes in 48-roll boxes. That amounted to over $2,000 of the stuff.

Think the Kirkland Barolo might be associated with Fontanafredda. Sounds like Simone Tablino is a lab tech there and when I did a search for CN/7874 it brought up Fontanafredda's website. Makes sense as Costco seems to often carry Fontanfredda Barolo.
Just picked up a bottle. Loved it. Getting a case tomorrow. Suckling, notoriously high on his scores, gave it 92. I’ll go 92 as well. Extremely drinkable. For $19.99, I don’t know of a more enjoyable Nebbiolo.

Also picked up and tried the 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva. I typically buy this as a “cooking wine good enough to drink while I’m cooking with it.” It fits the bill for that but is far less exciting and enjoyable than the Nebbiolo. FUI in prior years the CCR came from Villa Cafaggio, according to the bottle. This year the bottle gives no clue. I suspect it’s the same, as it is very similar in overall quality and character to the ‘15....

For those that like the bigger stuff, I found TRB's Double Diamond Oakville Cab (2016) for $40 at my local Costco. Bought a case to split with a friend. Cheaper than the $75 list he sold me a couple bottles for last year! Also grabbed a bottle of Pahlmeyer Jayson Red (2016) for $43. Anyone had Mondavi's Maestro Red? They had it for $23 but didn't bite.

Mooresville NC Costco:

2015 Castello di Albola Chianti Classico $9.99
2010 Bodegas la Tercera Rioja Reserva. $9.99

These may not get a ton of love on CT but solid values for my money.

Went a couple nights ago close to closing, other than being out of TP and dry grains, it really wasn't that crazy here in Seattle. It FELT super weird, social distancing inasmuch as it is possible in a Costco was in full effect, and everyone was avoiding eye contact but it wasn't what I would call busy.

I haven't had the 2016, but I had three or four bottles of the 2000, and I really enjoyed it. If I saw it in Costco for $40, I'd definitely get a few bottles.

There’s cases of Kirkland Barolo in Costco Kona....picked up some today and pulled the cork 5 min ago. Got the ‘17 Chablis as well....

If you come out you can get a couple cases and then hole up in a hotel room for the mandatory 14 day Quarantine.
Plenty of cheap seats to get here and plenty of rooms. The weather is great, you won’t need any sunscreen and you’ll (hopefully) have a “Green Flash” Sunset view from your room!!!

Had the '15 Kirkland Barolo with friends last night and the general consensus was not good....may pick up a few at that price and revisit in 5 or more years. The new Chianti Classico Riserva is definitely one of the great $9 bottles I've had! I picked up a case yesterday.

Len, agreed on the '15 Kirkland Barolo. Not worth flying over to Hawaii for....a bit of a stewey mess on the first attack, improved with air and came a bit more into balance. Would not have called out Barolo blind....will revisit tonight with some optimism.
Anyone try the '16 Penfolds 311 Chard ? Hadn't seen it in the US before, tasted it at the winery. It looks like the distributor for Penfolds has opened up with Costco, the store had the Bin 798 Shiraz as well as the Bin 407 cab. Waiting for Grange though....

NV Ayala Brut Majeur $19.97. Andrew Taylor picked up a few bottles for me so I'm not sure which Costco had it.
