Didn't spend a lot of time in the wine aisle, but I did notice a few new Italian wines in SLO this weekend:
2015 Michele Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Orme $9.99 (we went through several of these the last time Costco had them)
2015 Castelli del Grevepesa Chianti Classico Castelgreve $12.99
2015 Giorgio Pelissero Barbaresco Nubiola $29.99

Just bought an '08 Cristal for $199 at the South Anchorage Costco. It was their last bottle.
Nice!! Still $229 here. Would definitely grab another one at that price

Just drank a bottle of the 2015 Michele Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Orme from Costco: good value! Made me think about how $10 wines can sometimes out perform $30+ wine due to low expectations [cheers.gif]

Jim - I think the Waltham location is probably best, but that still is not saying a lot.

Drinking the 2016 Kirkland oakville. Bit overripe but overall a tasty wine given the $18 price. Would Defn buy again for weeknight sipper

I'll be on the lookout in SoCal, but not yet here at Glendale (not the best selection typically though).

Sorry, Sherri. I almost put “/husbands” but figured every woman on here is badass and would beat her husband if he questioned her. [berserker.gif]

“Spouses” is the right answer, which is now obvious, of course.

But... I would like to point out that I was being inclusive of the lesbian women here. K. I’m done. [cheers.gif]

Grabbed the last 4 bottles of 2016 Saint-Joseph "Muletiers", Dom. Vallet at the Foster City store today. $14.97, normally $34 (per wine-searcher). The wine guy was there and I asked about '08 DP. He said they keep shipping him '09. He's waiting for it, too.

2016 Tignanello at $79.97 was the new wine that caught my eye in SLO today. Still out of my personal price range, but it seemed to be worth mentioning.

looked for that at mine today. nothing. slim pickings overall. #471 has some Eric Solomon Monastrell / Jumilla being closed out at $9.97. I'm not familiar with it exactly, but I bet its a good summer BBQ quaffer.

Waltham is the best Costco wine store in the Greater Boston area. No contest. Plus they occasionally send out emails letting us know what's new.

Yeah, our spirits tax is insane. Appropriate this discussion is in the Costco thread as they are responsible for it.

Even with the higher WA sales tax, the lower price point for the ‘08 DP there still makes it cheaper than what the lowest Costco priced bottle would be here (after sales tax is collected at most locations here in the Bay Area).

There's no income tax in WA. I'd happily pay some more booze tax to get away from income tax!

Of course in xxxxxxxxx land we got both kinds of taxes - income and sales!

The Tigard, OR Costco is only 3 1/2 hours away.... Glad they don't have an inspection station in Vancouver collecting sales tax on all of the wine I have hauled back from Oregon.

Of course in Pelosi-land we got both kinds of taxes - income and sales!
What does Pelosi have to do with state taxes? Your red hat is showing
I took it as less of a direct effect of Pelosi herself and more of a reflection of the voting base that keeps her in dig. I only spent 36 years there so I may not be qualified to say though. I can say now not having income tax makes my sales tax on Costco wine purchases seem negligible. Lol.

Waltham is the best Costco wine store in the Greater Boston area. No contest. Plus they occasionally send out emails letting us know what's new.
Really ???!!! How does one get on the mailing list? Please PM me an email contact if you have one. Thanks Geoff.
Pre-2010, the Waltham MA Costco was their second highest volume location in the US (not sure now), and their wine person actually knew something about wine and would get in newly release classified Bdx etc. He sent out emails fairly regularly. Now, they are clueless and we are lucky to see one email a year about some crappy shiraz.

But the prices are still good, usually 15-20% less than anywhere else in MA, as long as you are interested in big name, high volume wines like Beaucastel or Clos Apalta. Occasionally something rarer. They do have Hundred Acres right now for $340, which is the lowest price in the US by more than $100.

Last time I was there, one of the staff asked me which $20-$30 bottle of wine was most likely to go up in value. [cheers.gif]
Cheers,

It's not easy being drunk all the time. Everyone would be doing it if it were easy.
