I thought it was very good and among their best releases. I've heard a lot of raves about the B520, but I didn't like the grassy note it has. I've never tasted that in an ECBP.
I think the C920 is as good as the A117.

Yes - Believe it was $70 OTD at BevMo. Batch 12 was supposed to be the stuff dreams are made out of, but I didn't get to try that one Believe they're on 14 now, and mine should be showing up on the doorstep momentarily!

New Pappy = Buffalo Trace distillate. Pappy garnered cult status on the basis of Stizel-Weller distillate. All Pappy has been without SW for a few years now. The ultra limited Pappy 25 that was released a few years ago was probably the last of the SW stock.

Yeah, perhaps not for the wineberserker pick, but single barrel picks are available through Willett. My best buddy back home in TN was able to get a Willett barrel last year. Granted, he's in the industry, somewhat local and has a working relationship with Drew, so a few steps ahead.
Well yes, we get 1-4 barrels a year, I would love for it to go to WB’s... but I would probably be out of work if that happened

Me too. Saw it locally for $99 but wasn’t sure high proof bourbon is in my wheelhouse. Clocks in at 120 I believe
The batch 14 bottle in my hand says 130.2! I've had a few drams. It's a full bodied bourbon (deep dark flavors) that requires ice for my palate. Recommended if you can get it close to retail.

That's funny Tony. If you ask me I find Eagle Rare 10 year incredible and very hard to beat for a daily drinker. Around $30 IIRC. My tastes just cannot justify spending over $100 for anything. It is mostly just hype and demand from trophy hunters after that. There are some people that spend ridiculous amounts of time hunting for stuff and then take a picture of the bottle as soon as they get back to their car to show off.

Tracked down some Eagle Rare 10 -$55 and some EH Taylor Jr Single Barrel bottled in bond -$100

I though so too but I went to about 6 stores and was only able to locate this lone bottle. Grabbed it figuring the surcharge translates into a convenience charge as I was running out of options.
Just upped another bottle of this. Made using the classic sherry solera process with sherry barrels. Deep and rich. Not too sweet. A bit pricey but worth the cost IMHO. Made in the Hudson Valley.

What would be the best vessel to use to distribute some pours of whiskey to use in a virtual tasting? What size should each pour be and how many pours per serving?
Should there be a small taste of the featured whiskey and then everyone breaks out their own bottle of what ever they have on hand for follow up pours?
Looking for some suggestions on how to set up a format for a rotating virtual tasting where one party provides pours of the feature to the others via drop off or pick up of the tasting pour

I would go with mini bottles.
Either buy new, or go to wherever you buy liquor and get however many you need (filled with whatever liquor), dump out or use, and re-fill with your tasting.

Finally came across Booker’s Country Ham 19-03 from last year. Had it once and loved it. Popped open the bottle as soon as I got it home and it was even better than I remember.
Picked up an Old Overholt 11 year old Rye today. Pretty pricey at $75, but as far as older release Rye goes there just aren’t very many. Interestingly they only released this to Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Also came across a small stash Rabbit Hole Boxergrail straight Rye Founder’s collection. Does anybody know of this is a desirable Release? It’s probably above my pay grade to just give a whirl for a 6yr old, but has me curious of course.
(Sorry I know these are two Rye’s but wish we could merge the Rye/Bourbon threads)

15 seems to be the real sweet spot for most bourbons.As always MHO.
i've been drinking the 12 over consistently and really like it. I have to look so closely at labels to see how much oak or sticks of oak are added to the aging. For this, I would have to make a special trip multiple time to get a few bottles. I decided about 2 years ago only to drink things I can have when I want. The 12 has fallen into that realm.

Wonder if there's a tax different write-off because it's being marketed as an experience, rather than straight alcohol? Gotta believe the secondary mark-up on those bottles will go through the roof, as I'd expect it to be the best barrels they have. Given secondary is $100-$120, I'd bet they could easily get $400/bottle for whatever they walk out with. Still isn't $75k, but you do get a night for 8 on the BT grounds, as well

EC18 is ~$129 and I've seen a couple on the shelves lately.
EC BP has also been really good lately and readily available, believe the price point is ~$55ish here. That said, i'd be really happy to get that one as a gift, especially if you had a bottle of something else. Larceny BP is in the same boat, but probably going to vanish now that Whiskey Advocate named it their bourbon of the year.

I like the High West Midwinter’s Night Dram in that range. You might also find Old Fitzgerald 9 in the range but it’s tougher to come by. Michter’s 10 is at the top of that range and delicious.

Haven’t had that one Brandon, but a couple years back I stumbled into a small stash of the 12 yr Belle Meade that is in the top ten bourbons I’ve ever had.

It's possible I read that and remembered you mentioning that fact somewhere here and the name triggered me to buy. It's fine, just not great. Good thing it's also not expensive. Of course, in the name of science, I'll try it again soon.
Our local county, state owned, ABC is having an email lottery. One of the bottles is 25 year Mitchner's Bourbon (Single Barrel I assume). Selling for MFSRP $1,000. Is this worth it? I am seeing secondary pricing on Wine Searcher for over $5,000. True??

True. Well over. I’d jump on it if I could. And while I would be forced to sell it for common sense and happy marriage reasons, I’d sure like to try it. I love Michters 10 and have enjoyed every one of the 7 or so whiskies from them I’ve tried. I think they are top tier.
Thanks Adam. I haven't all the offerings from Mitchner but I love the small batch bourbon and single barrel rye. Almost hoping I don't get picked for this one. I would rather have something to drink instead of something to sell.
