Costco Dallas- Churchill Way- has the J. Bookwalter Protagonist 2016 for $29.99. Suggested retail supposedly $60. Winemaker commented that this maybe their best vintage and it got 93 on both WS and JS. It is a very nice wine and one of their better deals currently at this Costco.

I saw this at the West Plano location as well. Same price...In the abstract I'm not sure it represents a great QPR (i.e. a 93-point rich, ripe New World wine for $30), but it might be worth tasting to see if it's something I find particularly nice.Hughes D. wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 9:45 pmCostco Dallas- Churchill Way- has the J. Thanks for the feedback! My fiancèe also loves champagne. I'll have to have her try these out rather than keep buying bottles of Domaine Carneros to drink at $35/bottle...Mike Kuller wrote: ↑October 21st, 2019, 2:47 pmKirkland Champagne $19.99 - I picked up a bottle and shared it with my wife who loves champagne.
She said she didn't care for it, that it didn't have much going on.
I liked it a little better but it wasn't distinctive at all. Just smooth and bubbly.
Much prefer the Roederer Estate or the Schramsburg Mirablle Brut Rose for about the same price.

Re: Official Costco Thread
I had forgotten that the unfortunate part of the Costcos in Colorado is that initially grocery stores weren't allowed to sell alcohol, so Costcos let 3rd party liquor stores open attached to them, but not a part of them (so no kirkland brand things included). They changed that a couple of years ago, but with caveats like if you want to sell more than beer you have to buy out the liquor licenses of all shops within a certain radius of you etc... So some Costcos here still have the 3rd party liquor store attached to them that wouldn't sell the license so that Costco store can only sell beer. No wine or liquor.Mike Kuller wrote: ↑October 25th, 2019, 3:00 pmThe Domaine Carneros is a good one, too. I think it was on sale for under $30 a few months ago at Costco.
I'll have to re-figure out which ones close to downtown Denver have a full liquor license and keep an eye out for that deal!

Yesterday the Elk Grove, CA Costco had several '08 Dom Perignons put at $137.99 per. (They also still have some '09)

Still no 2016 Sassicaia at my local Costco in SE Wisconsin. Seeing as how they just got in the '08 Dom last week, perhaps not surprising that other offerings are hitting the store at the same pace as other markets. Fingers crossed it lands soon!

I spoke to the wine area manager today at a Costco in Burnsville MN, because I noticed that some wines were being closed out at a different Costco in the twin cities but not at this one. He claimed that pricing reductions were handled by the corporate office and completely out of his control.Chris Seiber wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 12:01 pmSure, a significant part of it is the same from one to the next (the mid and lower priced supermarket wines), but as far as the kinds of stuff we around here would care about, it varies a great deal from one to the next. There's no real rhyme or reason to it from the perspective of the customer. You just have to figure out which ones are more likely to offer things of interest, and go to those - and even then, they'll vary a decent amount from one month to the next in terms of what they have.

#471 had these
2015 Lafon Rochet $45
2014 Monte Real 'Reserva' $10 (closeout)
I passed.
Some of their seasonal big bottles have started arriving.
In general I find Nov/Dec to be bad times to buy wine.
Better to just wait til February when holidays are all well over.

Day 2: This is really good and one of the best Chardonnays under $10 I have ever tasted. Carmel, tropical fruit, melon, mild oak and vanilla. Tastes like a $40 Domestic Chardonnay from a good producer. Great balance and finish. 90 points (90 points) $9.99 A top value of the year!

I did a quick skim through this thread but has anyone tried the Kirkland Napa Blend? It's $10.95 here in MA - just looking at it as a weekday glass w/ burgers. I'll probably pick one up regardless b/c it's so cheap but curious.

Looking to find a Costco in Florida that has a good wine selection. I shop at 3 different Costcos near Orlando and never see any of the wines mentioned in this thread. The store at Millenia has a little better selection, but for the most part we get Kirkland wines and what I would call grocery store wines. I am willing to drive if there is a Florida Costco wine department worth the trip. Any recs?

In general, the local Costco warehouse wine selections tend to be aligned with the socioeconomics of their surrounding area. So you'll have to find locations where the classy elite are. The Redwood City one is famed for its wine selection for example.Patrick OMalley wrote: ↑November 8th, 2019, 7:55 amLooking to find a Costco in Florida that has a good wine selection.
