I would imagine the first one was Tom Lee’s. That is why I opened it. Tom said drink in the next 2-3 years. I think it might last longer than that but it is in a really nice place right now.Rich Brown wrote: ↑May 25th, 2019, 12:13 pmThat's the 2nd strong review I've seen on this wine recently. ‘13 Bedrock Papera - Fantastic! Morgan has a nice blend in this block. The nose is off the charts interesting.

2011 Monte Rosso
Showed some heat but one of the best Bedrock Monte Rosso's I've had, just a killer nose. Completely murders the 2010, imo.

Re: What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?
Your positive take on the 2011's almost makes me wonder how we can be friends

On a serious note, I only have a couple Bedrock vineyards 11's left that I'm holding in Hopes of improvement. Just havent loved the vintage and drank most of them to free up space. I do, however, have a 2010 MR kicking around that I want planning on opening for a bit. Did you pop one recently? Would love some feedback on that one if you did (despite you're obviously questionable palate)

Re: What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?
I have enjoyed the 2010 more than the 2011 but I have a one more 2011 left so that may change. I drank my last 2010 in December and thought it was in a really good place. It was the best showing of the ones I had and didn’t seem it was on a downward slope by any means.

Yeah, after rereading "completely murders" it seemed to indicate I best put my money where my mouth is before making such emphatic proclamations...good thing doing so only entails drinking even more Bedrock so win-win either way lol.

2011 Bedrock Bedrock Heritage
Unlike the exuberant, heady 2011 Monte Rosso from last week, the 2011 Bedrock Heritage is still tightly wound up and took a month of Sundays to start opening (well, more like 90-12 minutes...but you get the point) - would highly recommend a decant if considering opening now.

Consistently one of my favorite vineyards...
- 2013 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard - USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi (5/28/2019)
It's been almost 5 years since I've last had a Bedrock Kirschenmann Zin with the last bottle being the 2012 vintage. This is not much different and just as delicious as I remembered.
Pretty, floral nose of violets and lavender; palate of ripe strawberry and spice, a bit of raciness overall with a tart crunchiness mid-palate and on the back end; bright acidity and overall very nicely balanced. I like it close to room temperature but with just a bit of chill as it picks up a bit of weight and the fruit is more vibrant.

2014 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Old Vine - my first foray into Morgan's 2014 and it did not disappoint. Still enjoying some 12's and 13's but I wanted to check in on this wine, always my first bottling of each vintage. Drinking well - spices and fruit on the flavor profile, not overly complex but thoroughly enjoyable, which is exactly what I wanted.

Re: What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?
I need to add a kudo for Bedrock. Back in January we tasted at the new tasting room off the square in Sonoma and I mentioned that I had (intentionally) dropped off the list a couple of years ago. The wines were so good I asked if they could add me back to the list. Kristin very kindly put me back on the list (essentially right back where I was).
That's pretty classy. Now I just need to show some restraint!

Opened both a 2017 Coast to Foothills and a 2017 Under the Mountain this past weekend. Both delicious. the Under the Mountain I would suggest waiting before opening. Its delicious, with lots of good spice, minerality and nuance, but its very young.

2014 Weill A Way
Lovely blue fruits with a nice savoury note, vibrant colour and nose. Took at least 4 hours of air to shine though. Has that great syrah moorish lip smacking quality
Highly recommended although i might leave it a few more years to get its act together

2016 Old Vine Zin. Vintage over vintage this is becoming a go-to weekday wine in our household. It has beaten out the Turley old vine and make more fiscal sense than opening a Limerick Lane on a Tuesday.
I'd like to drink more of the Bedrock North Coast Syrah, but I can't seem to find the case of it in the cluttered mess that I call a cellar, and its getting rather annoying.

Terrible to hear this but thank you for sharing your experience, as that is really the point of this thread! The only '14 Bedrock red I have tried has been the old vine zin, as I still have a lot of 13's and a handful of 12's that have been drinking beautifully. I am going to open a '14 Sherman's Gold next.Mike Francisco wrote: ↑June 10th, 2019, 8:35 am2014 Sherman's Gold Zinfandel all dried up and lacking energy. Excuse this Burg "snob" for intruding:
Zinfandel, Belle du Jour Vineyard, 2013
I had a very good Zin last night that appealed to my dirt-and-twigs instincts -- the 2013 Bedrock Belle du Jour. Very red-fruited, not the brambly blackberry flavors I've had in other Bedrocks. Tannins have softened but there is plenty of spine left. Spicy nose, glossy-but-not-too glossy mouthfeel, slightly crunchy dark cherry fruit. I'd imagine some Zin aficionados might say this is a bit soft, but I loved it. I can appreciate the bigger Zins at times, but they can be very tiring -- one or two glasses and I'm done for the night. But this had a succulence that kept you coming back for more. Drink now.
What's the story with the one-off bottling and the odd label in back about federal laws not allowing them to say what this 1926 vineyard is and what's really in the bottle?

Really tasty with Tacos al Carbon last night.
It's not easy being drunk all the time. Everyone would be doing it if it were easy.

Have the 17 Chuy Chard for tonight, what should i expect ? Cali butter/oak bomb or more Chablis style

It’s not a butter bomb, but it’s definitely Oaked and it’s definitely CA chard. Perhaps my least favorite Bedrock.

Had a '15 Drummond's Petite Sirah last night. Much more balanced and easy drinking than I was expecting, although it was pretty tannic. Will let the other bottle rest for several more years.

Re: What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?
I had the 2015 OVZ last weekend. This wine was good to go upon release, and not surprisingly, is still everything you like about one of the best values in domestic zin. That said, it's hard for me to see any real upside to aging.

Re: What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?
I found that a little bottle age has brought things together, I opened a bottle of the 2016 for Easter, and found it had good balance of CA fruit, acid, and some structure for aging. I didn't find it to be a butter/oak bomb like Rombauer, or the like. But certainly YMMV.

Re: What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?
17 Chuy, its OK but forgettable. Its a nice wine with some citrus apple flavours going on, medium acidity some oak but certainly not heavy or buttery mor disappointingly for me it lacked any minerality or steeliness that i love. Overall it just sort of exists without pushing any buttons which i dislike, i want wine that pushes at least one and hopefully a few buttons

Rich: I apologize in advance if this reply is a duplicate..replied earlier but had some computer issues and it doesn't look as if my earlier post made it through
Day 1 and day 2, the wine is drinking quite nicely, smooth, perfumed, The Viognier shows through, still have some left..Puzzling experience re the nose however..Upon opening the bottle, the nose was "WOW", an explosion of perfume, violets and other floral elements..A few minutes later, the WOW factor was gone, nose had closed down and wasn't giving anything up. 1/2 hour later, nose slyly peeked its head out said, here I am again, tho in a rather reticent manner. Notes of Viognier still prominent, nose now subdued but elegant..Day 2 nose more prominent and delightful..Viognier still rather dominant feature..All in all, a really nice bottle, no signs of going OTH and no rush..One of the better Cal Syrahs that I have tasted.
