MESSAGE FROM THE MODS: APOLOGIES FOR THE SPAM PM YOU ALL RECEIVED

#1 Post by c fu » January 12th, 2018, 10:04 am

As you may have noticed, you received a private message advertising for a certain winery for the upcoming Berserkerday. Due to a small opening while we were delivering our own Berserkerday Message to all users, the winery representative was able to send a PM to all registered users.

The user has been deactivated. Sorry that you all received the PM. We do not endorse the winery and do not allow such solicitations.

No need to message the mods on this as it has been resolved. If you haven't read it prior to his deactivation, you probably have no clue what I'm talking about.

Thanks

Apologies for the spam PM many(all) of you received.

This particular Newbie winery didn't follow any of the directions I gave, and I deactivated his account instantly.

Sorry about that.

I would believe it was an error as I have bought from them for years and definitely not a typical problem... great wine too...

It may have been an 'error', but was against the policies, and all instructions for BerserkerDay were clearly posted in private messages to him, and the Pre-Launch forum which he could see. He went rogue.

Too bad, as we were looking forward to more cabernet sauvignon offers in BerserkerDay - that's one fewer.

Spam Msgs

#7 Post by Patrick M » January 12th, 2018, 10:21 am

Anyone else get this spam from Todd/WB?

Hello all Welcome to 12C WINES:

We are a small production wine of about 200 cases per year.

Our fabulous winemaker Mike Smith along with the grapes from the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford Napa Valley has made this wine a great success sine the first 2017 vintage.

Mike does a great job in making this 100% Cabernet single vineyard Cabernet wine approachable from bottling. Then it continues to just get more refined.

We have been fortunate to get some nice ratings over the past several years.

Yes, could be, but it's not fair to those in BerserkerDay who read instructions provided to them. As for 'minor annoyance' for recipients, yes, but also damaging for the entire group, as when I announce BerserkerDay via Private Message, some might avoid it because of the additional PM received. Also, I'm floating dozens and dozens of PMs and emails in response to it.

Honest mistake, sure, but directions were given, and there's damage control to worry about as a result.

Anyone else receiving SPAM for a new winery by private message?

Update ( too late to delete my post): moderators handled it. I think everyone knows they aren't supposed to do it, or every winery in the world could do it. Opening a PM after getting an email alert is really annoying. Opening a couple of hundred would be worse.

Yes, the message suggested there were hundreds of other people on that PM from a first time poster.

Can we still let them have their offer on BerserkerDay but as a punishment for their transgressions the offer now it has to be 15% less? Would have been excited to see 12C as I've wanted to try them and always happy to see more cab on BerserkerDay.

i'm curious..
did he
1) KNOW it was open and took advantage of it, while he shouldn't have?
or
2) he just happened to be doing that, and usually it would have been blocked, but by sheer luck/coincidental timing, it got through?

if it's 1), i say sure punish him.. but if it's 2).. that's a newbie mistake, not sure he should be punished/deactivated?

Perhaps he made an error in privately emailing all the participants, but is anyone else bothered by the misinformation? As I mentioned above? I just paid $25 for the year to subscribe as an individual, and another $125 to subscribe as a BerserkerBusiness. I am happy to incur this expense, but not so happy for whatever that was from 12C. for free, I assume.

Is it too late to sue for emotional damages? Either for having seen the offer or for having it rescinded? Or both. I'm not picky.

Update ( too late to delete my post): moderators handled it. I think everyone knows they aren't supposed to do it, or every winery in the world could do it. Opening a PM after getting an email alert is really annoying. Opening a couple of hundred would be worse.
The ability to message all registered users was only open for a brief moment as Todd was going to message all users about berserkerday.

It is now closed again.

Is it too late to sue for emotional damages? Either for having seen the offer or for having it rescinded? Or both. I'm not picky.

Just another amusement of the day out here in the Valley. Where the sun is finally shining. Oh, wrong thread.
It looks like a mistype on their part as the first vintage is 2007. So if they were using a number pad, the 1 is right above the 0. I'm not sure why that typo would rise to the need to be bothered by it or unhappy. Maybe I'm reading your complaint wrong which is certainly possible.

Please let us know how you'd like us to rectify the situation and we'll do our best.

My avatar is for sale. Corey offered me $2.99.
I'll offer $5. But it will be paid in pennies, on the ground, that must be picked-up individually.
