These three 750ml bottles are all together in this lot consisting of the following:

2016 Metrick Chardonnay Sierra Madre Vineyard

A stripped down Chardonnay from one of the oldest, most historic vineyards in Santa Barbra county (originally planted in 1971). Elegant, light, stony and saline, with a touch of classic Santa Maria Valley tropical fruit. The vineyard has sandy soils and receives constant cooling winds from the nearby Pacific. Sourced, picked and made with an eye for creating a pure expression of Chardonnay and the Santa Maria Valley. Stainless steel fermented and aged, full ML (but vibrant none the less!), very gentle fining, unfiltered, 12% abv. Vines planted by the great Ken Brown!

2016 Metrick Mourvedre Futernick Vineyard

The 2016 Mourvèdre is fresh and juicy and almost too easy to drink! Darker than the 2015, and a great reflection of Futernick Vineyard, which seems to love giving birth to fresh and aromatic wines. Volcanic soils at 2800 feet! Dark berries and a little funk. Concrete aged, unfined and unfiltered.

2017 Metrick Sauvignon Blanc Presqu’ile Vineyard

Sauvignon Blanc from one of the few, geninune cool climate plantings on the Central Coast. The Presqu’ile vineyard sits on a sandy hill in Western Santa Maria, constantly blasted by cool, marine winds from the nearby Pacific. The result is a bright, citric and herbal Sauvignon Blanc from this exceptionally well tended vineyard.

There are two goals with Metrick. First, to make fresh and elegant wines that represent their vineyard origins. Second, to test techniques and theories on how to best craft wines so that they most accurately represent their vineyards. It’s a very personal exploration for me.
