Where: St. Michaels, MD

So, I’ve been down there a few times, and am hoping to go back again this year. That said, I’m looking for the ‘ideal’ BYO restaurant. Cost isn’t much of a factor this time (within reason). I’m looking for a nice place, with good stemware (I won’t be toting) that will let us bring a few bottles in for a special occasion. I don’t mind paying a decent corkage fee either.

ETA: It doesn’t have to be ‘in’ St Michaels, but in the general area (within about a 30-45 minute drive preferably)

Maryland is not a wine friendly state. In addition to being a felony shipping state, it is illegal to BYO to a restaurant that has a license to sell alcohol. (Of course I have heard of rumors of such things as off-lines and wine dinners with certain restaurants ) It is legal to BYO to a restaurant that does not maintain a license to sell alcohol. Good luck! St. Michael’s does have some nice restaurants even if they aren’t BYO.

In case you don’t find a BYO restaurant, I would consider 208 Talbot. I dined there a few years back. The food was excellent, and the wine list was interesting. Here’s the link:

jcfones, thanks. I’ve been lucky enough to BYO before on the Eastern shore, but was underwhelmed with the restaurant.

Brad, that’s on my list of possible restaurants. The restaurant is of more importance, and BYO would just be nice.

Has anyone had experience with Out of the Fire in Easton? Reviews look good, and the menu looks quite interesting!
