Hudson Valley for families?

Our extended family is looking for a spot for an August reunion this year and is thinking of the Hudson Valley. Ages from 8 to late 70’s. Would like to have a wide
variety of activities available. Suggestions for areas to use as a base to explore would be appreciated; thanks!

We’ve always liked the Rhinebeck area. Lots to do great food (CIA). WW1 aero drone shows. Vanderbilt mansions. FDR residence

My wife and I go to the Hudson Valley every summer. I would highly recommend the New Paltz area. Fantastic hiking, a couple of great family friendly wineries (Robibero), you can check out Mohonk Mountain House as well if you’re into it.

The Hudson Valley encompasses 10 counties, 5 on each side of the river.
As a resident of the lower part of the valley, I would be a homer to advise you to set a base here.
My advice would be to encamp mid-valley and go from there.

Hi Bruce,
My daughter spent four years in college near Rhinebeck, in Annandale-on-Hudson, and was married 10 years later this past September near New Paltz at Buttermilk Falls Inn, which I heartily recommend as a lovely place to stay (the Friday night welcome dinner was coincidentally held at Robibero winery). I love the area. Rhinebeck is a great, central location to stay and from which to explore both sides of the river. Hard to go wrong, unless you stay in Clinton, which I would avoid altogether.
