NY Style Pizza Recs

For some tourist friends who are staying near 60th and 5th Ave.

They don’t want to venture too far.

TIA.

Dup.

Rubirosa is our favorite. Quick Uber or cab ride to 235 Mulberry st. Book well in advance if possible, extremely difficult to get a reservation within a couple weeks.

Dan,

As a lifelong New Yorker, I wouldn’t want to walk 20 minutes in late December.

Looking for a place within ten blocks of where they are staying.

John’s on 64th St may work for them.

Looks like they’ve closed.

there’s a johns in times square.

Don Antonio on 50th and I think 8th is pretty good. Really no top tier places in that area that I can think of.

There is a Robertas in Urban Space on Lexington and 51st.

There’s a John’s in Times Square (44th Street). Not at the very pinnacle, but a very good pie

Great to know. Thanks.

Pies are of similar quality to Brooklyn?

I would say close.

lol. classic.

the one at vanderbilt is no longer wood fired not sure of the other one. i generally feel their pizza is a shadow of what it once was, but the gas powered ovens just makes it very average.

Just in case any socal people are watching this thread with envy there’s this place in Aliso Viejo

The best “NY style” pizza not from NY and before the NYers scream about the water is the secret to the crush, I know, but this could pass all day for a legit pie.

water is irrelevant.

also, wtf is marina sauce?

Our Sauce: We make our Marina sauce fresh from scratch, made with fresh tomatoes daily, right on our premises.

Folklore is the NYC water is why the crust is good.

that’s like searing in the juices on a steak.
