non-Napa wine regions

I’ve done Napa about 6 times the last decade (mostly during harvest) and am looking to switch it up this year in early November. Plan is to fly into San Jose and stay in the Monterey area for a couple of days and then drive south towards the wine country for another couple of days before leaving out of LA.

I’ve never been to these areas for wine so was curious if any of you preferred one over the other. 1) Paso Robles 2)San Luis Obispo 3) Santa Barbara

I mostly drink bold reds.

Paso.

Nevermind

Santa Cruz area? Ridge, Mt. Eden, etc.?

Bold reds on that line of travel? Paso. Hands down.

Paso Robles. A good place to stay.

A couple to visit that aren’t quite as well known.

If you get to Paso don’t miss Tin City.

In Paso, I’ve really enjoyed Tablas Creek and Dilecta. Also, Mcprice Myers makes pretty big bold Rhone blends and syrahs.
