have read the Amsterdam musings thread. Going to have a car, spend a few days in and near Brussels and Bruge, head north to little towns like Haarlem, ending with four days in Amsterdam. Need restaurants, not necessarily wine-focused or high end. Just some time with wife. Any ideas appreciated.

Rock Fort in Bruges. Not fancy, but very good.
Belgium: Beer!!! Some of the best beers in the world, IMHO; many will appeal to a wine lover who does not usually drink beer. Nice pubs in every town.
Amsterdam: Surprisingly good beer - Proeflokaal Arendsnest is nice when not crowded (off hours?). Coffeeshop - Paradox (for the “scene” or whatever else, maybe just a healthy bite and shake if your prefer)

I’ve been to the Hague on business several times and always liked it. The Hotel des Indes is very nice and the Italian restaurant round the corner used to have a very well priced list!
Le Rabassier in Brussels was very good last year.
De Pepermolen in Bruges was casual but good. It’s across the street from Rock Fort that was also recommended.
