Any suggestions on where/how to track down a free/cheap wi-fi code for a Hilton resort (basic Hilton membership doesn’t result in free wi-fi). Thanks.

It's usually last name and room number. Unless you are attending a meeting and then sometimes there is a password. Those usually only work in the meeting rooms.

Look out for the wifi, it can be unsecured. I was hacked at a Hilton a few years ago--fortunately no real damage done. Now I just use HotSpot in my iPhone, works quite well.
