Spain in July....

Planning a trip to Barcelona and Majorca in July with my wife and 11 year old daughter. Would love to do San Seb., but don’t think my daughter will be up for the food.

Looking for Recs for Hotel, Food, Airline recs from LAX, and everything in between. I will be using SPG/Marriott points for the hotels, but have plenty of points for any category. Thinking 9 days in Barcelona (day trips or an overnight from there to another city is fine) and a week in Majorca.

Any direction would be amazing!!

Thanks.

I know you want to use points but 16 days in a hotel room with an 11 year old sounds like an awful lot. I would rent an apartment. Plenty of room plus you can have some meals at home which would be easier on your daughter. I think 9 days in Barcelona is too much. Prepare for it to be quite hot.

Couldn’t agree more with George if I tried. Unless you are budget constrained, VRBO is the way to go for anything above two days with kids. You’ll spend between 250-400 Euros a night and likely save 50-100 Euros a day on food. There is something to be said about just being comfortable, even though it means you’re cooking/cleaning. I’ve gone both routes in Europe with my kids (hotels in London, Canne vs. VRBO in Corsica, Lisbon, Peniche, Loire, Alps) and it’s not even close. Aside from bringing home bottles of wine, charcuterie, etc., it just feels more like home away from home, especially of your kid wants to recharge with a game of Minecraft or watching netflix before you rush out to the next destination.

Last sell job here - we had at least 30 families visit us over 21 months in Paris. The vast majority were grateful to have a place they could bring the kids to and just check out for a bit, and a couple families came back several times. Sure, I get that you go to Europe to get away from stuff like video games and Netflix… but 16 days in hotels is a long time. /preaching

Re: actual ask - there are a ton of recent threads with great stuff from Nola in them.

Apartment with pool would be even better. Likely to be stinking hot in July.

The beach should definitely be part of your vacation also.
